A sincere thankyou from my family for reminding us of the NZ servicemen and women that did not return. ANZAC Day, a day of remembrance, is to my family the only real meaningful national day in the calender year that my children are truly interested in and respectful to without provocation. Unlike easter which to them is more about the chocolate easter eggs Christmas Xmas holidays and presents. The commercialism of these once meaningful events is well in trenched in their physique, not so much the meaning. Even our nations day Waitangi Day has no appeal, just another holiday. Only Anzac Day holds their attention provokes the questions and above all holds their respect. ANZAC Day is to my family and I am sure to a lot of other NZ families is also becoming a day to embody who we are as a nation. A day we can respect together as proud New Zealanders. Maori and non Maori young and old alike as New Zealanders we are reminded that we all row the same waka. Lest we forget.
